On Friday I was walking past where the road sign painters were busy painting road signs, like they do, when I bumped into a friend coming the other way. So we sat down in a sun-trap bus shelter and watched them painting their road signs while passers-by stopped to warn us that the wouldn't be any buses. Then another friend walked by and joined us and yet more people stopped to tell us that the bus stop was out of use. Those road-sign painters are really pretty nifty with their painting - they have to be, it dries almost instantly (though, surprisingly, it dries quicker in the cold than in the warm.) We were impressed. And we actually did watch paint dry.
But then, once they had painted their bus stop signs, they went further down the road to paint BUS LANE and managed to make one of the straight lines in the A go bendy. I just know that every time I ride up that road for the next 6 months I'm going to find myself saying to myself: ''That A's a bit wonky.''
