Google Maps now generates bike routes in US

Hmmmn, interesting so see how they decide what is and isn't a suitable cycling route. Would they use the terrain data to route you around unnecessary hills for example? Or send you along dual carriageways with poorly planned, narrow cycle lanes?

Not that I'm cynical or anything but it'll be interesting to see how it's implemented.

Had a look at a route I do from leamington to rugby - it takes you nowhere near the ex train track - now cycle path direct to rugby... although possibly that's because in the height of summer, there is around a foot of mud for a few miles along it...

Could that be because neither Leamington nor Rugby are in the US? ;)

See here

Google maps uk only has options for driving and walking at the moment. Do we know if the data for cycle lane / tow path etc. exist here for them to implement same?

You'll find out tomorrow to an extent I guess, see what that trike has been upto .
