As long as I breathe, I attack.
I do not know how long it has had the feature but i just noticed that googlemaps has the estimated cost for petrol for a journey.

I save £2.59 each way , call it a £5 day , £100 a month saved

Mine commute would cost £6 a day according to google. Although add in congestion charge and parking costs and it's more like £20.

£6 per day....add servicing, insurance, consumables, depreciation etc etc, and I save well over a tenner a day. Times 252 working days and other cycle usage call it 3k+ a year. New bike purchase fully justified. Upgrade justified.

£3.72 / day. I wouldn't need to pay parking charges so long as I arrive before about 7:45. After that, the car park is full and it is metered parking (and blue meanies) or risk the wrath of Tesco if they catch you.

According to this feature on Google Maps, getting the car each way to work (40 mile round trip) is somewhat cheaper than taking the train.

That's messed up. Trains shouldn't be more expensive than driving.

My commute it works out cheaper to go by train than take the car, even without my discount a return fare would still be cheaper than paying the £2.71 each way.

Hmm ... I don't do that well - I'll have to move further away to earn lots towards a new bike. However it puts it into perspective when it is cheaper to drive in than catch the bus by several pounds!!! I know that is ignoring any parking costs but I guess a lot of people who drive in park on the streets anyway. At least I know it is quicker by bike.

£3.56 a day or £818 a year  and thats just fuel cost. Dont think my old L reg Nissan Micra thats been garaged since tax ran out in April is going to get driven anytime soon....maybe I need to sell that for parts now.
