Must be based on an American car. Google says £2.61 for me, whilst my own calculation, based on my known fuel consumption over that route (50mpg), says £1.58.

If its urban (so a lot of start/stop) you're looking at 30 mpg, unless you've got a really economical car!
Also you have to factor in other costs, say depreciation on the car and wear and tear

When I passed 1600 miles, I did a bit of maths to work out what I had saved on Fuel etc...

1600 miles in a car (which, for arguments sake does 50mpg,) is roughly 32 gallons of fuel.

There are roughly 4.5 litres in a gallon, so 32 gallons is equal to 144 litres

144 litres of diesel is worth (@ 140.9p/litre) £202.90

144 litres of petrol is worth (@ 135.9p/litre) £195.70

If you equate this to your cars’ actual fuel consumption figures, it would no doubt be more!

Plus I have lost 4 stones (which is 56lbs or 25Kg) in the process…

Don’t forget “Cars burn your money and make you fat, Cycling saves you money and burns your fat!"

Food for thought!!!

£7.32 plus congestion charge...or I could drive around the CC zone and add an hour to my journey

yet when I drive it actually costs me £15 a day in fuel alone, plus congestion...Google must assume the traffic is free flowing.

I LOVE cycling to work!
