GoPro Hero3 Black Laptop Requirements Cutting Clips

Hi

I'm thinking of getting a Hero3 Black but only have a dual core laptop with 8 GB of RAM.

I'm not really fussed about editing as such but would like to be able to cut bits from the film and then join the cut bits together.

Does anyone know if that still requires a powerful PC or not? If there's any specific specs that might help I'll post them in the morning when I boot it up.

Depends entirely on the processor. I wouldn't see any issue though.
Can you play a 1080p video on youtube. If yes you can play back footage. For editing at worse it will take a while. Rendering always takes a long time for large files like the go pro will make..

Doing Coast 2 Coast next year and I just want to be able to capture some of it.

I edited a 80 minute 720p video from my black yesterday. Laptop is about 6 years old, 8gb ram, Intel core 2 duo processor. Can't remember the speed off my head, I'll look a bit later and list the full specs.
I also edited 5 minute 4k video, and whilst it was slow, it still managed it.

Cool. Just looked and mines 2.1ghz dual core, sandy bridge type.

It's only very basic stuff I'd want to do so hopefully should be OK.

Ati hd4570 graphics card 512mb with upto 2304mb shared memory
8gb RAM and I stuck in a 120gb SSD, which probably helps a little.

Certainly no speed machine, but does the job fine. I don't use it often for editing as I have a much higher spec'd PC set up for photo and video editing upstairs, but sometimes I don't want to be stuck upstairs editing stuff on my own.

Mines similar just 2.1ghz instead of 2.2 and it's only got a basic Intel HD Graphics card, although it's showing 2gb of ram so I guess it should be OK for the basic stuff.
