early rise to get out for a decent ride when at the bottom of hill got a puncture by the time i got back and started fixing it,and looking for pump that son borrowed !! the weather had already got hot, so got the right hump now !!! going to have a cup of coffee and sulk !

Why don't you carry a repair kit and pump with you?

As for avoiding the heat, couldn't you ride this evening instead?

Bummer.
I have a repair kit, spare tube, pump etc in my saddlebag (pump goes in a back pocket)
Evenings are a great time to ride

Was it far to walk home? There is a moral here, never go for a ride without first checking that you have what you need.

In Argeliers right now. It's so hot, even walking to the shops seems too much. I'll never complain about the cold & damp weather in England again.

Was brought up in Prescot, Lancashire, now Merseyside. I must admit that it is a bit wet an cold up there. The year I moved down, I had already started wearing overcoats in Prescot, but when working in London carried on in shirt sleeves until December!
