I've got the route the Friday's took from London to JOG last summer. Will send tomorrow night when back at PC.

Hi there - Seems I deleted the routes, however, this was what was circulated before the tour and will be pretty close to what we actually did. Hope that helps. Alternatively, I also have the LEL 'up' leg as GPS files from when I did it last year if you'd prefer that.
Cheers

Perfect! Thanks so much:thumbsup:

I can edit form there but they look fine as they are to me...I'll add an extra stage or two to get around London around to the west and down to the coast...job done.

Just by way of interest and for future rides what are the LEL files ?Lands end London?

It's a bit more complicated than that...
I've got (most of) the actual GPX files online - I'll try and remember to post over the weekend. Don't follow them blindly. RB may have wiped it from his memory, but there were some hairy moments around Perth and Inverness, and some of the Londonish routes are time-dependent: designed for a midnight start.

LEL is London - Edinburgh - London. Google LEL2013. There's a thread elsewhere on the forum.

Here they are:
Day 1: London - Bingham, Notts: http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=2977556
Day 2: Bingham - York: http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=2977623
Day 3: York - Castleside: http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=2981300
Day 4a: Castleside - Corbridge: http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=3043403
(middle bit of day 4 missing - it was straight up the A68, but we were stranded to fix a potentially dodgy brake)
Day 4b: W Woodbridge - Jedburgh: http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=3043410
Day 5: Jedburgh - Kinross: http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=3043419
Day 6: Kinross - Newtonmore: http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=3043421
Day 7: Newtonmore - Tain: http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=3043424
Day 8: Tain - JoG: http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=3043426

The dodgiest bits were:
  • the route through Edinburgh (dull, full of potholes and hideous traffic)
  • the few miles past Dunkeld (day 6, off-road on a reasonably rough track - take care with narrow tyres)
  • the 10 miles or so either side of Inverness on the A9 (dual carriageway downhill with motorway-style junctions south of Inverness; narrow, busy, fast single carriageway north of Inverness)
I'd cheerfully take a very long detour to avoid the Inverness section.

It's not necessarily obvious from the GPX because our GPS had its lock-to-roads feature turned on, but both Drumochter and Slochd summits on the A9 (obvious as the very long, bit hills in the track) have parallel cycle paths. Drumochter is good quality; Slochd less so, though even with a heavyweight crew on a lightweight tandem with 28mm road tyres it was tolerable. Many of the party simply took to the dual carriageway over both summits.
