great bike, good spec., cheap...what do you want?

Just see Monkspeeds album of his Triban 3. An amazing looking bike and an amazing spec. for 300 quid. Decathlon must have taken a leaf out of Boardmans book, in a far as producing an own brand with good looks, and great components for rock bottom prices.

Would everyone else like to see the big names do more of this? Surely it would bring the costs of good bikes down. I am sure we would all like that. What more would you like to see from a 300, a 500 and a 700 quid road bike? Only sensible answers please.

mm was looking at these as a n+1 mountian bike for bit off roading with other half and father in law ( they do little off roading lots of mud few drops and trails ) and little one ( 11mnths) would the MX Race be any good ? The new Boardman £500 road bike is competitive. It's got better wheels than the Triban 3 so the higher price point is justified.
