I've been a "proper" cyclist since 1957, joining the CTC and riding with a Section every Sunday. That phase was followed by several years of time-trialling. Later, some years were rather fallow, but then I had a purple patch when in my 60s and rode two continental sportives three times each. They were The Marmotte and The Quebrantahuesos. During those years I thought I would go on for ever but then a thief came in the night, pinched my legs and left me a pair belonging to an old feller. Happy days! (most of them)!
