climbs for cake

Recently installed a token threaded adaptor in my CAAD12’s BB. everything felt fine on the rest ride so I went out and did a quick 30k ride, no issues. Went up a steep punchy climb and a loud squealing came from the BB (at first I thought it was my brakes touching the rim) I got off the bike, checked the crank arms for movement (there was none) but back pedalling caused a grinding sound. Any ideas?

you need a new bottom bracket, or your new bottom bracket needs some lubrication.

Tbh it sounds like something is fundamentally wrong, well beyond a lack of grease on the axle (which is only there to facilitate assembly / disassembly and discourage corrosion). Perhaps contamination (from use or manufacturing), something's out of spec or has failed..

Personally I'd remove the crank and rotate each bearing by hand to check for roughness / try to identify the source of the problem. Gather as much info as you can and contact the seller and / or manufacturer - they may be aware of a dodgy batch.
