What a miserable bunch we seem to have passed today.
More out than usual given the Bank holiday and for what seems like ages, a sunny day, and we passed a steady assortment, but most stared past without a twinkle or 'alright' between them....I tell a lie one chubby, red faced guy on the top of Marford hill tip a wink.

Come bicyclist its meant to be fun;)

Must have been me.

They were probably 'newbies' out for the very first time on the new Christmas Bike. It takes a while to understand the culture. What you need to do if they don't wave or nod is turn round, stop them and let them know where they are going astray.
|They will appreciate it. Trust me.:thumbsup:

I didn't see a single one on my twenty eight mile loop. But there again I was going to where the wild things are at the Tan Hill Inn with 1100ft of climbing in 11 miles with 20-25mph headwinds to accompany rain, snow and hailstones punctuated by sunshine.

The Tan Hill Toil.That was one of my many bikes rides i used to organize when i did charity work.I still have the poster i put up in work to raise money.Some lads from Durham and some from Cardiff came and joined us.The Pub did us a free load of sarnies.I have some great photos of the day.

So well done to you.:bicycle::bravo:

I went out today and on Christmas day and got "the nod" from every other cyclist I encountered. Granted that was only 1 person on Xmas day but there were quite a few out today. Perhaps you were just unlucky?

The outward leg was literally a grind into the face of adversity. A pint of Ewe Juice at the Tan Hill Inn took the edge off the misery for the return leg. :cheers:

They are out every day from the Newbys who think your strange shouting "Hello" across the road, to the wanabe road racers who look as though you have just spat on them if you try to acknowledge them in any way , to the sod off i am to busy to say hello chain gang.

That said , i find 4 out of 5 i pass will smile and say hello, so its not all depressing news.

This is a topic that will go on as longs as time its self, just like the helmet debate, make them both law i say ,, make it a legal requirment to wear a Christmas hat over a helmet (best out of a really cheap cracker so it it is 3 times the size of an avarage head) AND must stop , smile and wave you past upon passing at any time during the day or night with over sizes sweeping waves and a chorus of "well hello their old chap , have a spiffing day" (this only applies to us out in the sticks, not London as they would never get home)

While out on my commute into work, on my Thorn 'Sports Tour', I came across a local rider I've never seen before, on his.
As I scalped him I commented that we ought to have a rose between us.
I never caught his response.
