Glad I saw it or it could have led to a nasty incident :B)

Cleat bolt?
Well done my learned friend.

It could have been an unexpected clipless moment for me if I hadn't spotted it and ,of course, instantly recognised it. I did have the advantage of turning the offending item in my hand though rather than just a single picture to guess from.

There really is/was bugger all metal at the shear point, I'm not surprised it broke at all. Sometimes N+1 for bikes just isn't enough, you need back-up shoes too

If you had a proper cleaning regime like me and @fossyant you might have spotted it sooner
The floor isn't that mucky, I spotted it straight away!

Whoops. Got an old pair of backup SPD's.

Now for the fun of removing the threaded section  from the shoe !

I coppa slip mine as SPD bolts and fittings are known to rust and fuse together.

I only fitted new cleats a couple of months ago (with copper grease) and it looks as though there is enough of a stub to get hold of, but I haven't tried yet. I do have spare set of cleats/bolts that came with my new XT pedals.

Almost certainly, but is it worth a 'warranty' claim?

Anyway, never mind that. I've just screwed in a new UN55 BB (Thanks Mr Postie ) to the MTB as it needed a shorter axle (73/107) and when I pick the kids up later guess which bike I'm taking on its maiden voyage?

Nice to know this isn't just me then.
I lost 2 during the night one night (found them in the morning) I don't understand why they come off In the house rather than on a ride.

My shoes/pedals and cleats were all less than a few weeks old at the time too.
