He is, of course, totally bonkers. But you gotta love him

I like him, but is it actually "his" Spitfire

Whilst I understand the reason why a high profile celebrity on your team is beneficial, there was probably a massive effort to get this project up to the stage where he joined and the "ownership" is really that of the team that started at the very beginning

I agree, but I'd reckon that he'd want to do this, not be (pardon the phrase) 'parachuted in' to be the presenter

After all, he does have his own trailer mounted Merlin!!

Only just watching this now on a repeat. Question though, with the numbers the factory was churning out, was there a point at which returned damaged planes were pushed into a corner of a field as a too damaged to repair and a new plane issued to the pilot? Were the damaged ones stripped of useful bits, such as the engine to be recycled. Just thinking that with a well oiled production line interruptions could actually slow the builds down.

From talking to veterans, a lot of the cannibalising was done at local level.

It was frequent not to return damaged planes, but actually use them for spares at the airfield

Thought I recognized the name, he got his pic in the local paper for taking part in the Strathpuffer mountain bike event and wearing a rather odd hat that I think he may have knitted himself.
The video is of a lap in the event and not of Guy Martin.

Tough race that one, 24hours off road if I am correct, he came second. Not bad for a motorbike rider.

You can buy the hats off of his website.

Money converts things that Guy Martin doesn't want to do into things that Guy Martin does want to do.
I'm sure there is an element of that, but after reading his rather lame autobiography I get the feeling that if he really didn't want to do it, then I suspect he wouldn't
