Halfords multitool..

I'm sure none of you actually visit Halfords much at all but I did to get this sheet of metal with some hexagonal holes in it that they claim is a tool. Anyway I needed to remove a pedal, so used the 15mm part ofc. With barely any effort (maybe i'm mega strong) the 15mm part bent a lot and slips and is unusable, ha!

So basically in conclusion Halfords is rubbish?

i use a bikehut chain tool and spoke tool and they are vg imo the spoke tool is cast metal and neat size and chain tool has brass bits were they are needed similar tools cost a few quid more but im happy enough , got them about 2years ago and theyre like new still ,

take your word for it about multitool though as i had a nasty encounter with a bikehut mini pump that was just useless imo

if im doing big jobs on my bikes like shifting pedals around etc i opt for home tools as mini tools designed for on the road often make job harder

not a problem on a windy wet country lane were you just want to get fixed up and on your way but at home its out with big boys for ease of use .

Halfords isn't half as bad as people make out. It's the clowns they have working for them usually that make it bad. My local halfords is actually very good and I trust them more than my local bike shop (which isn't just run by idiots, it's OWNED by idiots).

I wouldn't always trust cheap stuff though, no matter where it's from. Halfords are not exclusive to that.

I think when it comes to get a 15mm pedal spanner it pays to get a good quality tool. I purchased two relatively cheap ones and both broke or got damaged in the process of removing pedals. Parks makes good tools.

The other tool that I find it pays to buy good to start with is a cable cutter.

My Bikehut pedal spanner is still working three years down the line, and is now used more or less daily by a hamfisted teenager.

You bought cheap, you bought crap, but most importantly you bought the wrong tool for the job. It ain't Halfords fault!

The bikehut stuff seems to be OK. It's their own brand tools I would not touch with a barge pole. Pay £5 for a chain tool and it will break when it seems a Shimano or SRAM chain

This is your problem, not Halfords.

The sheet of metal you describe is for kids bikes and even then it pretty poor.

Get yourself an adjustment spanner and you'll be fine. Halfords/Bikehut tools are actually quite good if a little pricey compared to their peers.
