Got back home yesterday after riding from Haltwhistle to Lands End Youth Hostel to Dover to Haltwhistle 1,436 miles in 26 days. Unfortunatly due to gear troubles at Cambourne, which meant an unexpected night halt I did not see Lands End it'self and to keep within my time constraint I had to miss out between Penzance and Plymouth and Bournemouth and Southampton (about a 100 miles) but I hope to get back to do this bit in late September early October. Lot of lessons learnt for next years Northern Hub, including not having too tight a schedule

Carry spare brake blocks, learn how to repair or at least adjust your gears and build in at least one flexable day per week Oh and carry a big tube of Savalon or something like it.

At long last finished the write up of the Southern Ring of the Haltwhistle Hub I did back in May. Main Stats are:
26 days riding
1,436.47 Recorded Miles (used Garmin eTrex and Cats Eye Velo8 both stopped on me at odd time but I think I am right to within +/- 10 miles)
1 Mechanical breakdown (very expencive to get repaired in a hurry)
1 Puncture (repaired it myself at the side of the road)
16 Nights in YHA Hostels
2 Nights in Bunk Houses
2 Nights in Travelodges (cheaper than YHA)
4 Nights B&B
1 Night at home
Lost app 4Lbs in weight over the 26 days.
Will be returning to Penzance in September to finish the bits I missed.
