So true, so true.

70 years ago, my father was 22 and in Rangoon, still fighting. He signed up at 17 and saw things in those five years that I can't begin to comprehend.
My old man was in Norway, taking guns from the Germans there, who were surrendering.

A friend of my father's worked on the Burma Siam railway and was lucky to survive. The POW's experience was truly horrible and I'd like to send my condolences to your family. They were special people. Even after all these years it must be a raw feeling. My father's friend was a strapping 6' rugby player and came back to the UK in 1945 weighing less that 5 stone.
Just finished reading a book called The Narrow Road to the Long North about the building of the Burma Railway.Truly, truly horrendous for all those poor souls involved in that terrible enterprise.
