Harrow have removed 2 cycle paths in the last 6 months I just wondered if this was a trend that is happening across various boroughs or just isolated incidents?

Are you for or against cycle lanes?

I've not noticed cycle lanes being removed, but there has been a study of late that 'said' that cars give cyclists more room if there weren't cycle lanes.

have you noticed they are removing the railings by traffic lights around london? at first i thought it was a pain because i like to lean on them instead of unclipping, but thinking about it.. it's a great idea because now i can easily get onto the pavement instead of waiting in and amongst the cars!

I joke, i don't cycle on the pavement!

Im tending to think this is baloney though, there probably isn't much difference.Where is this "study".

Let's say in places I commute I know this probably isn't true although they are well known to me and I actually know where to expect these "close passes" and generally it isn't when im using cycle lanes.

Although if you are bias against cycle lanes then it's a waste of time me typing this.

Yes I know about the railings.

I just wonder, what is the problem if you hate cycle lanes?

surely you don't have to use them.Im sure I don't use every one.Esp if I think one was dodgy and i did know of one on Upper/Lower thames street that went onto the pavement.

Yes I have found a few studies about how common accidents can be on cycle paths. What I witness day in and day out though, this does not surprise me.

You don't, but the presence of a poor cycle lane that only a fool would use increases the likelyhood of moton aggression.

+1

I can think of a few cycle paths that aren't that bad as a surface but have a total width of less than my, road(!), handle bars. The problem is that because there's a cycle path there motorists expect you to use it. Try again!

I'm for cycle paths and would like to see them more and more and of higher quality. I just hope they arent the new speed bump ( add speed bump one year then remove speed bumpthe next , just to justify the council budget)

I think they should narrow car lanes. They're too big at the moment, and if we narrowed them then it would leave far more room on the road.

So what happens when a lorry which is substantially wider than your average car uses it ?
