Have you been to Looe by bike? If not you are not alone....
The amount of touring cyclists I seen here in Looe during the last 4 years is easily counted on my fingers (yes, I have 10) As I am not down town 24/7 I can have missed a few!!! Where ever I go biking I have hills, hills and more hills and very few flat parts but I love them

Hi theloafer,
do you remember the hills? Did you like them?

I'll be there end of the month. Starting from Truro area to Illfracoombe, then Devon C2C to Plymouth, and home again along south coast. I'm use to the hills at least but lack of cycling is going to make my 4 day plan a bit tight

No, but I am going to be staying between Penzance and Land's End for a few days in April.
I'm a commuting cyclist (well, no, I'm a cycling-is-my-main-form-of-transport cyclist) and my standard rides are flat as a pancake. I think I might find it a bit tough going!!

Am i right in thinking there is a ferry across the river there ? Planning to go that way when i head to Penzance in May and thought the crossing might be on the cards.
How hilly is hilly ????? Never seems bad in a car so i cannot picture steep at the moment LOL

Yes, it is a ferry across the river but it's easier to cycle 500 yards over the bridge. The ferry is just an open 20 ft boat
It is very hilly, not really any flat road anywhere....
Flat is boring though

My thoughts - take a ferry whenever you can!

Well, this ferry takes you 200 yards cross the river!!!!!!!!

Absolutely amazing!

I think the smallest I have been on was Bawdsey

Although the purpose built (ans very pink) Warsash Ferry isn't much bigger!

My favourite though was the drop front on the Hull Harwich where you have to stand at the back or water comes over the front. It then docks with a vertical ladder of some twelve feet that you have to get up with a fully laden touring bike!

I went through Looe on 23rd September last year, as part of my tour of Cornwall. Seemed a fine place. There's a BCQ site there, hence my reason for passing through.

I can confirm that it was a steepish hill into the town and a steepish hill leaving the town. Much as I like ferries, the bridge (which carries the main road through the town) is ridiculously convenient.

Us folk with a normal complement of fingers (8) tend to steer clear of places populated by extra-fingered mutants

On the subject of small ferries, this is the smallest I've taken my bike on (Topsham)
