Having spent a hot day out cycling yesterday I ended up with the worst hay fever I have had in years.I always get hay fever at this time of year, but normally not this bad.

Anyone else got it bad or is it just me?

Yeah it is pretty bad at the moment although the anti-histamines and nasal spray i take help alot.

Yep, in town it isn't too bad but on canal paths, green and leafy cycle routes, rural roads, etc. it is really bad.

I am taking a lot of antihistamines (have to carry them with me and be careful of mixing with alcohol), and nasal spray, and washing my face and eyes at cafe/pub stops. It does take some of the fun out of cycling on a nice day, in nice surroundings.

I have noticed in the last couple of years my nose doesn't stream like it used to, but I still get very itchy eyes. I am finding the so called "one a day" antihistamines run out after about 6 to 8 hours. I am starting to wonder if taking a cetirizine at the end of the day after a loritidine in the morning is ok.

yea it doesn't bother me much but an hour of pollen blasting on the bike leaves me with sore itchy eyes.
I take bekanase but for all the good it does you might as well just squirt it up your nose.

It's been horrendous for me since the middle of June. It's the first time in a couple of years that the daily tablet hasn't been enough. I'm using the eye drops and nasal spray as well now; that alleviates it somewhat but doesn't stop it.

Oh, and a tip for those of you whose nose turns red raw from the constant blowing: a wee smear of Vaseline in/on your nostrils relieves the dryness from the sandpaper tissues and also acts to trap the pollen that would otherwise get up there.

I carry one of those little pocket-size tins of it.

You can't beat an old fashioned linen hanky at this time of year. But agree with the Vaseline as well.

You'll be relieved to know that as you reach your fifties you'll probably grow out of it. I have.

Never had it before in my life, but I'm getting sore eyes when walking the dog in the mornings... might just be tiredness though

Don't really suffer from it, have started this year though and finding it hard at times when cycling to get my breath, though that might be the amount of cigs I smoke
