Ah the cry of the market trader.

Heard this today as we walked through the market on the way back home.

It came from a stall selling fruit and veg and roughly translated into English I think this comes out something along the lines of - Here now, choose, a pound a bowl.

When my family moved up from Oxfordshire to Newcastle, I go a holiday job driving for a plant hire company. I was given a compressor to deliver to a Metro site and the foreman came up to me and asked "How mate, yeduneetoowin?"

I won't bore you with my repeated requests for an explanation but on about my fourth attempt, after I'd said "I'm sorry, can you repeat that?" He replied: "Ha ye dun ny toowin? Ye knaa mate, toowin a fookin traila!"

Guy's have sold fruit from a stall in Glasgow city centre for years and to this day I've no idea or clue what they're shouting.

There's a ticket collector on the train I (used to) get who could shout "tickets please", without pronouncing any consonants! xx(
