Hi there, the name's Hayley I'm 25 and currently just cycling to commute to work (5 miles each way) on my lovely hybrid (and occasionally going for an early Sunday morning cycle if I don't do my swimming).

I've decided to set myself the challenge of getting ready for a charity cycle ride taking part in Oct 2013 across Cuba - so giving me plenty of time to train up on all the lovely cycle routes around my area!

You will most probably spot me lurking/occasionally posting around the 'need help' sort of areas ;D

:hello: Hayley and :welcome: to CycleChat ! :wahhey:

There's lots of past posts from people who are training for a particular event/charidee ride and how they can fit enough for it, so do a search if you are seeking advice. ;)

If not, enjoy CC and I hope the swim to/round Cuba  goes as well as the bike ride across it :bicycle:

Bonjour!

Early rides on a Sunday are great, when you're first getting into it. Used this tactic myself a lot, in the early days ;)

Good luck with the Cuban adventure - sounds like fun!

Thanks for the welcome everyone  Will definitely look into the past advice given out - every little helps

Sunday rides really just help me get out & about - I don't like sitting around over the weekend and like things to keep me busy and my Saturday mornings are spent weekly grocery shopping

Why does my life sound boring when you see a post " I'm riding across Cuba ? " Welcome to the mad house, you will get loads of good help on here :hello:

Haha, I've still got to send off my application + app fee (only saw it advertised this weekend!) so fingers crossed! Other than that my life is relatively boring - but I prefer the term 'quiet' ;)

Not now you've joined CC, it isn't  !

Keep an eye on this section and see if anything comes up round your way. It's a great way to eat CAKE :hungry:, meet other CCers, ride together, get information, eat CAKE :hungry: and boost your riding distances.

Most CC Forum Rides have, as basic principles:
- "No one gets left behind"
- "Any bike will do"

If that is not apparent where you are, come up to East/Central JockScotland and we'll show you how it is done (the CAKE :hungry: , I mean, of course )

Thanks Scoosh! I'll keep an eye on that section for sure!

That does sound like a good idea for meeting people and getting info (and more than enough cake?) Next time I go visit the 'rents in S.W Scot I'll bring my bike up with me & take a trip across to the East side (because taking a bike on a train is so much fun ;D )
