Well where to begin...
John from Liverpool, I began cycling again a couple of years ago to get out and about with my younger, fitter brother! Bought a Ridgeback hybrid - he was riding a mountain bike at the time - and enjoyed getting out of a weekend - nothing crazy and mostly along cycle paths, but i was enjoying it. Brother decides to get a road bike and has that about a year before upgrading. I decide to buy his road bike and sell the hybrid - big mistake! Didn't enjoy the road bike 1 bit so much so that in 2012 went out about 3 times on it and sold it Feb 2013. Of course we then get a half decent summer and I am thinking "Great weather for a bike ride!"
All this time I am putting on the weight and it gets to October and I have hit 17 stone! Time for a change. After some consideration decide its a hybrid for me and buy a Giant Rapid 3 in mid October. Get out for 1st ride on 27th do 14K and am so out of breath its unbelievable! On top of that get a cold on my chest and don't ride for a couple of weeks.
Into November and I get out again and now I am off! out most weekends since then and have managed to wangle working from home one day a week so I can get out for a lunch time ride. Loving riding the bike and building up the miles - using the Strava app to challenge myself and to top it all stood on the scales this morning and the wight is south of 16 stone for the first time in far too long!
So thats my story of how I got here today. Looking onward to joining in the forums and meeting other cyclist and generally having a good time!
