Hello all

I'm completely new to the cycle scene. I'm looking to buy my first road bike in the next month or two when I have the money. Until then just looking for some good advice really as always rode mountain bikes up until now. Also trying to get fit at long last aha.

Head up the M5 and get yourself a Triban 3 from Decathlon. A bit more expensive, but so much more bike for the money.

Nice part of the county for riding. Head south from Bromsgrove for flat, quiet roads. Head North for leg-busting hills. Enjoy!

They've probably closed down by now. Only about 3 shops left in Bromsgrove at all now haha

Used to live near Bromsgrove (Barnt Green). The Steak Sarnies at the Hop Pole Inn were sublime. Hope the old place is still going. Good bike shop close by there too (though I forget it's name).

Its a dump now, used to be good a few years ago, but the couple who owned it sold it to a guy who tried to put music on every night and surrounded himself with a bunch of drinking buddies that probably drunk the profits away. He went bankrupt but pulled some sort of stunt with his new woman taking over with him lurking in the background.
A mate reckoned that went bump and there is someone else in there now, same drinkers in there, but my mate reckoned last time he was in there they hardly seemed to have any beer.
Awaiting deliveries was the story.........or does that mean the previous supplies haven't been paid for?

Ahh. I'll take a look there

It might be worth you going there, with the intention of maybe paying a bit more but for a better bike.
See a guy called Martin that works there, a friend got him to sort a bike when he did LEJOG. He said the bike fit was great and he had no problems doing the marathon ride.
Also they are good in there and will give you good advice and set you up correctly. That sort of thing for a newbie is invaluable, so a bit extra would be money very well spent and if you get into it you are future proofing yourself for a while.
