Hello from Canada!!

Hi there, I am Amanda and I live in Canada. I am originally from the USA but I married a Canadian so here I am

I was a bike enthusiast as a kid but just recently got back into it because my spouse is a commuter and because I sold my car and need transportation around the city. hehe The beautiful weather here in Vancouver has really inspired me to get back in the saddle. Plus, I need the fitness! It's my dream to get a touring bike and see the world one day. I found this website because I am in the market for a new bike and I want to make sure I get the right one. Also, I know very little about bikes and want to learn more. I would appreciate any advice!

Welcome to the madhouse Amanda, you don't have to be insane to write or ask questions here, but it helps

Welcome AmericanWoman :hello: This is a friendly place, all the info you could wish to get, and much more that you didn't know that you needed to know. Pop into the cafe for some informal chat and a bit of banter and virtual tea and cake.

Hello!

This is largely a British forum, so North Americans are a rare and interesting treat! Do we have any othe Canadian users here?

England/ Britain is a great place to cycle around on touring hoilday, You would be welcome if came over.

Greetings, American Woman and welcome to the pleasure dome! Plenty of info to be gleaned and a lot of laughs (and tears) to be had here.

FM is somewhere in Canada, plus Tollers, Cathryn, soon-to-be Monty and one or two others are across the pond.

The only problem with being across the pond is that the time zone differences mean the north Americans lose the rapid fire banter engagement of cyclechat. I miss you lot!

I'm in Quebec which is good cycling for half the year. I don't know Vancouver but I do know Vancouver Island which is excellent cycling and has a good bike shop in Oak Bay although you might want to go south for better prices.

Oi! - So is Scotland/Britain - just a bit hillier and colder and wetter. But even more welcoming, obviously.

Amanda- we Scots are just as chippy as Canadians when it comes to being called English / American, mostly in good fun.
