Hello I'm Scott, 18 years old from Cumbria! I'm all about mountain biking across cliff tops and muddy paths! Put on a 'few' pounds and wanting to get into road biking! I've no idea what to look for but any ideas of what bikes to buy will be helpful! 5'5 and have a budget of about 300 quid. Nothing too flashy but good shifters would be a must. Thanks for having me and look forwards to talking to you all!

I don't ride technical anymore due to health issues, but am happy on light trails with plenty of mud!
Good luck with the bike search!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Hi. Welcome from powys. I also can't help regarding the bike, but I'm sure someone will be along who can

Hi Scott and :welcome:.

With a budget of £300 the best new bike for the money is widely regarded to be the Triban 3 from Decathlon. The Carrera TDF available from Halfords also has a few fans on here as being a decent starter bike. If looking second hand, £300 should get you something fairly decent if you search around. There are plenty of helpful people on here if you want opinions on anything you find.

Hi Scott from just down the road

The Decathlon's the best new bike in that price range, but unfortunately I think our 'closest' Decathlon is either Glasgow or Bolton if you want to sit on it first.

Welcome Scott! :welcome:
I see you got a few suggestions, post a pic of the new bike when you decide which one to get!

Hello from the northern end

£300 doesn't go far on a brand new roadie I'm afraid, if you can make it closer to £500 that's much better. Otherwise your best bet is 2nd hand.

The Carrera Virtuoso from Halfords is a decent starter, but if you can get more budget, then something like THIS would be excellent (and available in Carlisle)
