Hi My name is Gray , im from kent . I use to be a cycling fan when I was younger and was always out and about , that was until I smashed my knee up playing football ! . Two ops later the knee still plays up , then I go and do the same to the other knee .
Anyway years later I still suffer with knee pain and have piled on the weight. This Feb I decided enough is enough and purchased a road bike again . I only brought a cheap team Barracuda to start me off and have promised myself a half decent bike when I reach a weight goal. I have lost 1st 8lbs since then and have the cycling bug back again. I still need to lose another 2.5 st before I can have my new bike , but it has set me a goal and im loving the cycling again.
well im off for another slim fast lol ..................

Welcome and well done so far. You just need to cut out the fat and sugar to acheive your goal. I am sure you are feeling better already. Take the biking at your own pace. Enjoy!

Hi Gray, I'm in Kent too and have a dodgy knee. I dislocated the patella for the second time last November, spent 6 weeks in plaster and have been trying to regain fitness ever since. I treated myself to a new Giant Defy at Easter and it makes so much difference. Keep up the good work and on wet and windy days think of your new bike!

Good effort Grey, keep it up!

Next step is to get off the Island and go for some hills (Hollingbourne is "fun")

You could also lok at some local Sunday club runs - Wigmore CC go from Rainham and Sittingbourne Triathlon Club go from Swallows - both 09:00hrs on a Sunday morning. STC are a very mixed bunch with both quick riders and more "pedestrian" paced riders
