Hey, I'm a 20 year old student who was recently handed down a nice road bike. I went on my first ride today in ages (it was quite tiring) and averaged 12.6 mph on a 12.78 mile trip, there was a bit of traffic but I believe it was a good start to my cycling hobby!

From where you are it is easy to get in some circuits of Richmond Park. It gets boring but will still get your fitness and mileage up. Also Windsor Great Park is within striking distance. As you get fitter you'll soon start to put in the miles.

Also remember it's about fun and not how fast you can go (at that's my excuse)
