When I was a lad of fourteen I was given my dad's old bike no gears rod brakes and sit up and beg handle bars which I turned upside down to turn it into a racer stile bike, much to the amusement of my old man.
That was the start of my cycling career. A couple of years later in 1962 after saving up from my paper round I bought a proper bike, a Falcon cote d' Zure for £60. A lot of money in those days Renolds 531 tubes crome front forks 18 speed Campag gears alloy handle bars and wheels and the latest brakes, unfortunately in the mid 70s I gave it a rattle can repaint,bad mistake wish I'd left it original.
