Ive just aquired this RE. I cant find a frame number in all the usual places. Its got SA hubs from 59 and 51, a gallows seatpost and a wrights olympic saddle. It was originally olive green. My gut feeling is that it is mid 30s. Any thoughts

Looks like a normal headset, would 30's be headclip or those funny recessed races in the frame?

Not convinced the frame is pre-war personally. It's old, without question - but maybe not that old! Are the frame angles really slack enough for the 30's, and what about those seat stays??. I've noticed that on most really old roadsters, especially the rod-braked heavy variety, the seatstays were usually bolted-in rather than brazed at the dropout and seat tube cluster.

REwere fitting cabke brakes from the 1920s. But in inclined to agree that it is probably 1950s with an older seat and seatpost fitted
