Hi, I've just got an email with the gpx files for my London to Paris ride from the organiser. I've only just got a Garmin 800 and don't actually know how to get the files onto the Garmin or my Garmin connect account, can you help please? When I click on the link it just opens a new window with a list of gobbledygook on it! Thanks...........Neil.

If you plug your garmin in to your pc, open the folder and drop the gpx file in the folder called "New Files". Disconnect the garmin, turn it on and the route should now appear under 'courses' or similar.

Didn't work! tried putting it in 'new files'and in 'courses' , tried on the memory card and internal storage. At the beginning of the last of text that comes up for the file it goes on about the Web address, tried to delete this bit but it just goes to Web page, I'm none the wiser!

download the gpx file, normally this will auto file to your dowloads folder.

Open the folder, find the file and copy it.

Open garmin folder, new files, and paste in.

This is what it says above the list of text.

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Does that mean anything to anybody?

XML and GPX are different.

Have you tried a GPX file, if not create one and try that.

I'm a bit of a dunce! How do I do that? !!!

OK. The people who created that file made a small mistake. Open it, delete the first line <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> and save it again.

Make sure the file name extension is .gpx. ie amr_route_1_day_1_2014.gpx

Then try again

Just to make sure, I uploaded it here

(after that, I'm out. I don't have a garmin)
