Hello Alex

the conversion cost me:

£60 for shifters and handlebars from a chap on here although the bars were too narrow so i bought some others from a planex x (i think) sale for a tenner. Gave the other bars to a mate who was looking for some for a project.

new cables and outers £6 or £7 quid.

New giant bar tape (avoid white) £10

bought some in line barrel adjusters £9 (can get these much cheaper on line) although i dont need them as the conversion worked really well but i will fit them soon to take out the cable stretch.

i think thats it.

it was definately worth it.

It's not as bad as expected then, thanks for that mate. Will give my flats a little while longer and to get used to the road cycling and in the meantime will keep an eye open on the classifieds to see if parts come up.

Alex,

Look on ebay for the pedals. You can get them for under £15 inc postage.

EDIT: Look out, they don't come with cleats!

I saw those but like you say doesn't come with cleats where the ribble ones do so a bargain.

Well I decided to go out and spend some money today and ended up spending more than expected but got more than expected so is all good.

I ended up buying the Shimano M520's, Specialized sport mountain shoes, Crud Roadracer Mk2 mudguards and Cateye Strada computer. Went into the local Evans cycles with the intention to try on some of their shoes and get sizes to buy online but wasn't too keen on the fit of the Shimano shoes, so glad I went and tried them and found the specialized so much more comfortable. Shame really as had some good prices on the M077 shoes for them to price match but I'm sure will be worth the extra money. They did however price match everything else so didn't have to spend much more than I wanted to so bought it all there and then.

I've fitted the Strada (which is a lot smaller than I thought) and the cleats onto the shoes but couldn't get the pedals off my bike to fit the M520's so gonna go in to the LBS I bought the bike from and ask them nicely if they could fit them. It's probably me being a weakling but what can I do

Thanks for all the help
