I agree with your interpretation. Have you asked Amey to point to the relevant traffic sign? Worth an on-site visit with them, with the traffic signs manual brought along, I'd say. Or perhaps could suggest they run this arrangement/signage past their cycling department (if they have such an entity).

As far as I can see you are right and they are wrong ... its harder to tell on the second one without the road markings.

I'd say you are 0[sup]0 [/sup]wrong, whereas Amey are 320[sup]0 [/sup]wrong. (Or 400[sup]0 [/sup]wrong if they insist on going the long way about putting things right.)

I'd say you're correct & AMEY are wrong.

Don't hold your breath waiting for them to be fixed/replaced. Why not point them in this direction

That's the frustration though. They've offered to meet me on-site, but why should I have to waste my time on something that is so obvious from the pictures (and the StreetView links that I sent them)?

because then you are doing something about it rather than complaining about it.
somebody might actually see it in real life and go " Oh lordy, it is wrong"

is it feasible somebody could be injured if the signs stay as they are? if it is and they did get hurt how would your conscience(sic?) cope .

Eh? You can see that it's wrong, and so can I. I've reported it to Amey, and had an email discussion and phone calls with them about it. They went out and didn't go "Oh lordy, it is wrong".

they might with a bit of explanation. remember this is a highways department.

Hurst Street is the only place I've had any real bother from other road users in recent years who have accused me of riding the wrong way up a one way street. Frustratingly, there's rarely been the chance to explain why I'm not. Except with one ped. Those signs have been the wrong way round for years. I moaned about it to the city cycling officer but drew a blank. I still ride into the city this way sometimes but I generally leave the city via Pardise Circus and the Bristol Rd now to avoid the contra-flow. I had one too many near misses with cars pulling out and not looking my way (understandably perhaps) precisely because it is one-way.

I'll check out the signage on my way back this evening.

Whichever signs are the wrong way round. The kids round here seem to do it easily enough with signs pointing the right way.

I should really have put a smiley there as I wasn't being entirely serious

Well. I didn't really notice the signage by the traffic lights as I was too busy trying to squeeze past the lorry that had parked in the cycle lane. But I'm delighted to report that the signage the other side of the Hippodrome is bigger, better, on both sides of the road and facing the right way round. Hurrah! Well done User.
