I was hoping one of you lads and lasses could help me out , basically cycling to Marple via the peak forest and Ashton canals has got me eager for more semi off road jaunts and try as I might I can't figure out a route so was hoping someone may be able to sort me a gpx file or route list .
I want to start in Gorton near the fallowfield loop and head off toward Stockport eventually getting to the peak forest from a downhill direction and head back to the Ashton canal I'd like to be away from traffic as much as possible and tried to map using the goyt and tame rivers but wasn't sure if they are bike friendly anyways if there's anyone out there who could help I'd be greatful I'm looking for a total distance of 30 miles plus and if you require more detail let me know cheers

Hi Colin,

Richard Fairhurst, a member of the forum, has his own website, which I must say has a really good mapping feature. The website is cycle.travel. Its very easy to use, if you want PDF printouts or gpx just sign up for free and plan away til your hearts content.

I am not linked to him or the website in any way - I'm just really impressed with it… Have a go - let us all know what you think.

Bengdis!

Well I tried Richards site and every time I got one marker in place it sent the others mental and it ended up a big mess and I couldn't keep it running the way I wanted

bengdis - thanks for the kind words!

Colin - I'm guessing you might be clicking point-by-point to create a route, which you can kind of do, but it's not really set up for that. (But I should probably make that easier for people who like to do that!)

It's intended to work by clicking once at your start point, then once at the end, then dragging the middle of the route to the places you want it to go - just like on Google Maps. Let me know if it's still being troublesome and I'll see what I can sort out.
