Happy BH everyone

Can anyone help me with my lap top?

Somehow I have downloaded a program called securitytool and it is constantly asking me to register and give information over(which i do not want to do). As it pops up it prevents using any thing else on the lap top and therefore renders it useless! Does anyone know how to get rid off this off my laptop as I have tried looking in the uninstall programs and it is not listed there?
Or should I just take it on an all expenses paid visit to PC world:angry:?

Cheers

Have you carried out a malware scan using your A/V software?

thank G attrick

However now the `security tool` (not) will not let me minimize and therefore download anything else - and thats in safe mode.

Any ideas?

Download and run Malwarebytes ... it should help.

Note: Make sure you delete all found malware from the quarantine before uninstalling the software otherwise they all end up back on the machine.

OOPPPS .. rushed in without reading your post properly. Still, if you can access the internet with another machine it's a good tool to download and use.

My daughter got this. Ended up scanning with Avast and AGP and Spybot - two missed it, one got it. I think it was AGP, but I'd try all three, plus malwarebytes. Oh, and after you donwload them, make sure to download and instal the latest updates. These damn things chnage all the time.

+1 for systems restore - I couldn't access the internet due to the virus but managed to get into SR and get rid of it.

Just remember the date so you don't restore back to that point in the future.

theres a difference between Virus and Spyware (which is what most of these fake security programs are). Anti Virus Software doesn't always register them as a threat and stop them because of the way they present themselves to your computer.

+1 for Malwarebytes.
