hope someone can help
I've been using Linux Ubuntu for about a year, but started getting problems, so have reverted to my old XP Pro software.
A great feature with Linux for my work, was that I could open several images from my files at the same time. Is there any way I can do this with XP?
If anyone can help, please make the explanation easy to follow, as I'm a bit of a computer numpty.
Cheers - fingers crossed!

What is wrong with your ubuntu? I would try fixing that - winXP is getting very outdated...

Anyway, Irfanview is a pretty good free image viewer, and should support multiple instances.

XP still works fine for me.

But yes, not being able to open more than one Picture & Fax Viewer is pathetic.

I you use office (MS or Open) you could drag the images on to a page (select web layout for full screen) to view them side by side or in a grid... but I'd use Photoshop, Fireworks, Gimp or any other image editor.

edit... Rasmus is right about IrfanView. Handy bit of kit that is.

Picture and Fax viewer is rubbish, disable it and use an image editing program to open multiple images.

I use an old version of Paint Shop Pro

thanks for replies everyone
I cracked after starting this thread, and used a hard drive cleaner of my son's to wipe everything clean on the other desk-top, then reinstalled Ubuntu, so I'm back with that now. Just got everything back up and running. Everything seems OK - for now ^_^
bloody computers - once again, thanks for advice

Another vote for IrfanView - it's an excellent bit of freeware. It supports multiple instances, and has numerous image editing features, resizes images. You can even create panoramic images by putting several images left-to-right, or top-to-bottom. You can also select parts of images and paste the part to a new image. Plus other features, also. I don't work for them, by the way! I've just been using IrfanView for years, and think it's great.
