Hello

Basically I want a bike so I can get to work (about 10 mile round trip) also I want to start going on bike rides on the evening and at the weekend for fitness and was planning on only riding on roads. but i have no clue what bike to get or what accessories i should start off with. I don't even know what size bike i should be looking at im 6,2" any help would be greatly appreciated. My budget is about £450.

If it was me - I would be going for a hybrid (flat bar bike which can be used on road or for light off road stuff; paths and the like). I would buy a "known" brand like Trek, Dawes, Specialized, Boardman etc... For best value, maybe you can find something reasonably new but second hand (ebay etc) as you will get more for your budget as someone else has taken the depreciation hit. Beware of stolen bikes though. Talking of which, first accessory should be a good quality lock. Have you got secure storage at work and/or home? You could leave the lock at work to save carrying the weight around. Other worthwhile accessories to start (for commuting) are lights, mudguards, and maybe some type of luggage carrying capability if needed.
Size ..... if you're 6'02" then probably about 58cm, but sizes vary so much you would be better off visiting a bike shop to find out. Just do it; you won't regret it! Only thing is you might get hooked in and end up with a collection of bikes....

Thanks for your advice, I think I will be having trip to a bike shop this weekend. I was thinking of getting a bike with drop bars but that's only because I fidget and can't stay in one position.

Some people don't like drop bars, some people do.
At that price, look for a Decathlon Triban. Others here will give you more advice.
Shops and web sites will advise on size. The mistake I made is size your bike around the recommended one based on your relative dimensions. At 6'2", if your inside leg is >=36", then think about a frame that is slightly smaller than recommended, if 32", then go for one that is slightly bigger. Its all to do with the top tube length.

Accessories? I'd start at lights, lock, water bottle and saddle bag for inner tube and basic tools, although the list of possible accessories will make your bank manager and legs wince.
