Hi there,

I've been stalking the forums now for around a month so figured it was about time to actually say hello.

I'm Mike, 28, and live in Ipswich. I got my bike around a year ago but being honest I've only just started to take it seriously, and like many here will probably know the feeling, I'm hooked. I've not done any 'real' distance or events but I am keen to start getting the mileage under me. If you're in a local rider and don't mind going too slowly I'm usually up for a ride in the evenings or weekends.

So there it is, my hello, wasn't as bad as I thought

Hi and:welcome:.
Great to hear from you.
It's not about doing distance and events all the time . It's about enjoying yourself.
There are all sorts of reasons why people ride bikes but it all comes down to one thing really.
Enjoyment.
Out of interest, what bike do you have?
Keep in touch.

I have a 2013 Specialized Allez Elite. I don't know much about bikes really, but I did see it featured on the Cycling show as a top 3 bike for under a grand. Which of course made me feel good haha.

That's a very nice bike. Should see you alright for some time to come. Later on, I would think about upgrading the tyres. The stock ones are OK and tough enough but an upgrade will give you a better ride, ie, less rolling resistance and better puncture protection. Three tyres I like (personal opinion here. Others may disagree) Continental 4000s, Continental gator skins, Vittoria Rubino Pro.
Very good purchase you made there.
Have lots of fun with it and let us know how you are getting on or if you want advice etc.
Cheers for now.

Hi Mike, welcome to CC.

I too am Ipswich based as is @Andrew_Culture . If you fancy a ride at some point I don't normally need much of an excuse.

A good light is essential for evening riding this time if year and making sure the batteries are charged helps too, as I found out last night...

Are you on Strava yet?

I see you found me on Strava Matt. Sure, we'll head out. Shout me on me on Strava or FaceBook at some point.

Hello Mike, mileage is all relative, to some people 20 miles is a lot, to others 200 miles isn't enough

I organise the occasional Sunday morning ride that you'd be more than welcome to join in with.

Nice to meet you.

+1 for the 4000s tyres, I love mine!
