Keep going mate in January a 4 mile ride killed me soon was out to 8 that finished me off then out to 15 couldn't walk then 20 etc now. I fly through the 20 no stops feeling great. I'm up to 45 at the moment and planning a 50 for Sunday.

I was 20 stone 2 years ago lost weight by diet and gym and as I posted in another thread got a handle on a major problem got slim ish and bulked up but was still quite unfit then decided to do a triathlon next year to keep up motivation so learn to swim get on the bike and learn to run. I'm now shedding weight again and getting really fit it doesn't come easy but if it did everyone would do it only the dedicated and determined keep going and succeed.

Where I train we have a 24 stone man 4 months ago couldn't lap the field on the warm up run struggled to tyre flip or do any of the cardio in the classes he does now he's 20 stone run well and is b.....y strong.

Hi everyone just a short update I have been on a couple of rides since my last post started on a 2 mile ride and all is going well apart from waiting on a new crankset as mine is slipping when pedling hard yesterday I did a nice 12mile ride and loved it very tiered though it was a lot longer than I had planned but hay I managed it and what doesn't kill you and all that but thank you to everyone as the encouragement really gave me the push I needed to get back on a bike! ^_^

Good lad - keep going, it'll get easier.

For your info, there's a thread in the 'Beginners' forum called 'Show us your newbie progress' - loads of us keep adding to it on a daily basis to let everyone else know how they're doing. It's great to have a read if you need some motivation. If you've got a Smart phone, get Strava onto it and link your rides to this site. I find it fascinating seeing where everyone else has been and how far some of them go!!!

Hi and welcome mart, well done and keep going you will make it ! Two years ago I was a 22st 10 lbs tub of lard sitting about doing nothing and fast eating my way to a pine overcoat (slightly funny but true) so with a sensible diet and after a while swimming then a mtb now down to 14 st's ok still overweight but a whole lot fitter and as I have been told by the doc' am now only 17% likley in the next 10 years to have a stroke or heart attack so that makes me very happy !!! and as per @Hill Wimp states just keep trying the next corner and one day my friend you will find that you well kinda went past that a while ago lol.
