Hi and welcome! We were all in the same boat at some point..

I'd guess it depends on the question?

Hi there im looking to organise a charity bike ride and am after some advice. I have never done anything like this before so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bit of story about the reason for this and the reason for the start and finish points. my cousin was in the army and recently lost his life out in afghanistan. I am looking to cycle from his house were he lived in holmfirth huddesfield in the UK. finishing at the barracks were he was based in wiltshire Battlesbury Barracks, Warminster, BA12 9DT.

Has anyone any advice about planning a route were to stay and whether a road route would be better than a rural route?

Cheers

A post in the Touring and Expedition forum will probably be the best place for route planning and accomodation advice..
I've only taken short rides myself that I've managed to plan google maps or what have you..

As to which route, I'd say thats down to personal preference.. If you want to get there quickly and don't mind the traffic, go for main roads.. If you can take the time, go for more urban routes. Bound to be more rewarding!

Charity wise, justgiving.com are pretty good - I set up a page in 5 minutes with no problems.. Only trouble was the group I'm raising with want to do the Big Cheque Handover so couldn't use as it all goes direct to the charity..
