Hi, I am probably one of those guys that you get every year about this time. Father Christmas brought me a Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc and I want to make a start to get fitter and lose some weight. I'm 62 years old and frankly turned into a bit of a porker! I don't expect to do much in the way of off road cycling, so it will just be roads and canal paths, if it ever stops raining! So I'm hoping my new bike will fit the bill, initially anyway. I will no doubt be asking lots of questions now about what kit to wear etc, so I apologize in advance. Cheers.

Hi and :welcome: Dubya.

Theres lots of helpful people on here so feel free to ask questions - no question too daft. There is also a useful search function if you want to see if a question has been asked before.

I hope you enjoy the new bike and that the weather doesn't put you off too much as summer riding will feel much easier if you can build up the miles through the colder months.

Thanks for the welcome folks. ^_^ Went out this morning on what I consider to be my first "proper" ride. I've been up and down the road a few times previously, but today cycled what is my commute to work. Only 3.5 miles and it took about 20 minutes or so. That seems quite a long time to me, but hoping to cut that down the fitter I get. As soon as the weather improves and the mornings get lighter earlier I will cycle to work as well as any weekend rides.
