New member as of today.

61 years old and have not very much for the last 40+ of them however a lot has changed this year.

In June due to my increasing weight I started a diet and as of now I have reduced from 15st 6lb to 12st 11ld, a couple of month ago I joined a gym in Romford (my home town) and am now working out and running over 25 km a week.

Now this may be somewhat boring and to have nothing to do with cycling but watching other members of the gym arrive on their bikes has awakened something in me (a love of cycling/bikes) that has laid dormant since my late teens at which time I was a regular cyclist and a memeber of a cycling club in Manor Park, East London, then along came my Vespa followed by a car and the bike gathered dust and rust until I sold it to a workmate.

I was lucky to have an old MTB lying unused in my garage, it had belonged to my Nephew but he no longer wants it, it has now been stripped down and cleaned, greased and put back together and I am now using it on a regular basis.

Problem now I cannot seem to keep out of bike shops.

Not really, I am 5-7 so I was very overweight, even now I need to lose another stone, hopefully the gym and the cycling will do it because I am pig sick of the diet, less than 20 gram of carbs a day.

Welcome, I used to live up the road in Chadwell Heath, now Burnham. Enjoy your cycling from a youngster of 60.

Hi Terry, I do live in Chadwell Heath and have done for the last 26 years.

Small world, I lived in two addresses in Mill Lane and one in the High Road. Left in 1978 just as Sainsburys was going up. Only been cycling for a couple of years but luv it. You have some nice roads to hit if you head north. Keep at it my friend.
