In this era of "Elf 'n' Safety", I reckon the proliferation of Hi-Viz tops could lead to some confusion... walking 5 mins from bus to work this morning, I saw...
bus drivers in hi-viz
builders in hi-viz
police in hi-viz
not quite sure who with clipboard in hi-viz, staring at a traffic light

Is there any end to this hi-viz madness?
What if I want to know the time, and ask the builder instead of the policeman?
What if I want my roof doing and accidentally employ some bus-drivers?
Eh? Eh?

the very fact you noticed them shows the high viz is working

There's a question actually. Why do bus drivers need high vis? They're sitting in their bus while working. It's the bus that needs to be visible, not the driver.

And why, when I went into the post office on Friday, did the person who served me feel the need to where high vis? Who's going to knock her down behind a shop counter/

I nearly always wear hiviz yellow or orange when cycling. Definitely helps me get seen!!!!!

The BBC have asked me to do an interview near a busy junction and told me I'll have to wear hi viz.

I've said no because I not going to let someone else assess my personal safety for me and I don't see standing on a pavement being interviewed as dangerous.

"But you might get run over"

"Yeah, and a hi viz jacket is gonna save me, isn't it"

Well yes and no.
He didn't tell us how many people he failed to see who were not wearing hi-viz, and how many he bumped into. We need all of the facts in order to assess the effectiveness and need for hi-viz.

The newsagent next door has all the adult comics on the top shelf - now that's what I call High Viz.

Anyway, hives is the bees' kniz.

And anyway again - we can see you coming a mile off Maz...:smile:

on a club run which stopped at a service station (poplar 2000 near knutsford), we noticed that you had to wear hi-viz when cleaning the (ground floor) windows.

on our way back, we passed two window cleaners on bikes, or we assumed that's what they were…

Ground floor windows? That's low-viz, not high-viz!

There will come a day when people are not allwed to move out side of their own homes without Hi-Viz on. Then the ninja cyclists will stand out as dark shapes in a sea of yellow.

Presumably, they are supposed to wear it at the depot (fair enough, with multiple buses dodging about) and they just don't bother taking it off to drive.

On the train pulling into Derby today, I saw a gang of 6 track workers setting off down the line in their very very bright orange hi-vis. Having just spent a day with my little nephew (we like to go to the station and wave at the trains as they leave), I had to stop myself waving at these guys as they went past!

Bus drivers, same and lorry drivers I think...need high viz incase they need to get out of the bus for any reason? something like that.
