Hoi,

Thought I'd make a post as I have been lurking about on here for a bit. I've found the beginners section in particular very interesting!

I'm just starting on road bikes with a mate, I'm coming from MTBs (Konas) and he's coming from the gym. We're both based out of Aylesbury, Bucks.

I've got a Giant Defy 4 on order, it had an 8 week lead time though so is scheduled for delivered on the 18th, he's just bought a Cannondale.

He's clocking up 30 miles a day in the gym and 50 miles on the road at the weekend, but now it's getting brighter I expect we'll be doing those miles on the road.

Cheers for reading,

Dave

Hi, the Defy came highly recommended, my one slight reservation coming from MTBs is the dramatic decrease in gears, we"ll see how that works out for me (I went for the compact).

9 or 10 speed compact is more than enough for someone that already rides. The triple or granny ring is for very hilly areas,or folks that are very new to cycling and havn't built any base fitness

High Wycombe's not too far away nope,I used to spend many a weekend going up and down Whiteleaf on the MTB

I still have another week to wait for the bike to be delivered

what's that big mother of a hill that goes from the M40 jct 4 down to the town centre? .... always fancied riding that on the roadie (mega hill training on the way up though!!)
