hotels and restaurants in edinburgh

As my missus has booked us tickets to scotland Ireland in the 6 nations as a Xmas pressie can any one recommend some decent hotels, eating houses any food goes.. and a few good pubs..in Edinburgh.

How much do you want to pay?

I've stayed at these two -

Both are pretty good, but if you're going by car it's easier to park at the Braids Hill.

Both are pretty good, but if you're going by car it's easier to park at the Braids Hill.

The Braids Hill is a fair distance from Murryfield, with no easy direct transport to get there (forget trying to park anywhere near Murryfield on a match day), the Bruntsfield is closer and could be walked (although it is a bit of a long walk, but an easy cycle).
