I had several weeks of persistent rain on the careterra austral. My thoughts about rain are.andym said:Unless you are very unlucky or go somewhere very rainy like, say, Patagonia
*Keep telling yourself "a little bit of water never hurt anyone" although its not true.
*+1 for bus stops
*+1 for waterproof panniers
*IMO waterproof trousers are a waste of time for cycling.
*if your down sleeping bag gets a little bit soggy it will loose a few degrees. deal with it. (but try not to let it get properly soaked)
*being warm is more important than being dry.
*squirt some shampoo in the pockets of your shorts. Thats the washing done.
My tent is cheap, old, small and the groundsheet leaks. A bit of rain comes in... Nevertheless, it serves me well and I love it. my sleeping bag is good. think it has lost a few feathers from getting wet. probably also lost a bit from being squashed in the bag a few hundred times.
