On the way home from my pilates class last night we had a discussion about how to say the word. I reckon "pe-lart-eeze" one friend says "pie-lart-aze" and one of the other girls says "p'-lart-ese"

Any ideas on a definitive answer, or should we just go to the pub and talk about something else?

where do the r's come from?

I know someone who was doing pilates but couldn't recall the word. After umming and ahhing for a while she said 'Hook on head!' As in a hook on the top of your head to make you stand upright properly.

I think you are right, Maggot, with your version. Quite happy to discuss it over a drink. My usual class is on Tuesdays, but not tonight. Tonight is Hot Chocolate with Errol Brown in Cheltenham.

Tomorrow night is Tai chi.

Just fancy stretching innit? And had I done some before the ride on Saturday, my back would not feel like a seized 1963 Morris Minor engine now.
