How healthy city cycling is?

While cycling to uni I was thinking about this the other day...

Sometimes I feel that the positive impacts such as keeping fit, saving money and being good to the environment might be undermined by

Yes I have often thought this too, but I like to go out early in the morning before the worst of it arrives. Living in Dumbarton, I can go out to Loch Lomond and the surrounding hills ...but there will always be damn traffic at one point or another

Acht well, in a few years time everyone will (hopefully) be driving electric cars or some other equivalent like hydrogen or whatever, so it will be a thing of the past. Maybe.

But there's that statistic, that regular cyclists on average live longer. So even with breathing in particles, we're still fitter and healthier than someone who only drives. The particles may not do any significant damage, but inactivity definitely does.

I'll stick to riding.

all that asbestos dust floating round in the air since the hoover train ( I kid ye not) got broke and they couldn't fix it

no wonder some drivers wear face masks .
