Standard winter commute is about 13.5 miles and takes 55-60 minutes (round trip).

In the summer I'll go a long way home and add 15 - 20+ miles and take another 30+ minutes.

In the summer I really don't care how long it takes to get home.

10 mile round trip and takes just over an hour altogether. Quicker on the way back due to it being down hill! Lose a few minutes waiting for the lifts at the tunnel though

I am not convinced this 'constant' will always work for cycling because a cycle commute doesn't have to be just 'commuting'. Firstly, it is exercise. For people who push their cardio rate during their commute, or are doing distance, the commute is equivalent to a trip to the gym. Secondly, commuting by bike is also fun - certainly a lot more so than work.

For me don't always work at the same site but the half hour each way is about my favourite ... as I am usually rushing to fit work around the school run at both ends of the day, though I think I'm less bothered by the distance as the type of terrain preferably not big hills and peaceful being my favourite. So I will go out of my way to cycle on some of the cycle routes that take you through parkland and feel like you have escaped the city for a few moments.

About 2hrs as it's around 31 miles round trip (including a few bits of offroad). I've managed the 14.5 road miles into work in 37 mins before....but only on my carbon bike when giving it the beans! Not surprisingly, I'm much slower on my singlespeed cross bike which I generally use for commuting.
