I'm not very manly.

There are quite a few females at sea now, still very male dominated though except in the the cruising and superyacht arenas - though they tend to fall more into more of 'hospitality' category than professional seafarer . Engineers still seem quite rare, I only know of one on something like 10 ships, she did her first trip to sea under my guidance and it's great to see she stuck with it. Was a career change for her, she was a qualified midwife before.
