Ummm..... you have nine and the voting categories stop at seven !

I was looking for a category ... Well, way over seven.

EDIT: Aha! That's better :-)

a lot!

at least five pairs of low-top plimsolls in varying degrees or wear. A couple of pairs of hi-tops, several pairs of trainers, three pairs of hiking boots, toe-caps for work, Chelsea boots for funerals... do slippers count?

They live in a variety of nooks and crannies and i sometimes find a pair i forgot i had. The last time i assembled them all together, they filled a rug measuring 5' x 4' and I think the count was around 22

More than normal - would be a better way of saying it

Firstly - I used to have a pair of smart block shoes - and a comfy pair for work
I no longer work so only need one
BUT when I retired I had a new pair - hardly used bought recently because Clarks don;t often have a sale and I always piucked them up in sales if they had one
plus the ones I was wearing at work at the time - had a few months left in them for work
BUT now I was retired so that "few months" would last for years
Plus I still had the smart pair - but after a few years they were starting to get more scruffy

and I was getting married so I needed a good pair - so I got a new pair

so that makes 4 pairs of black shoes - chucked the old work pair so I have 3

bought a new pair of trainers because the old ones were getting beyond acceptable
but they turned out to be very comfy but not very strong
so when the old ones were chucked I got a more hard wearing pair

so 2 pairs of trainers when I only need one

plus a pair of walking shoes as they are waterproof with good grip - so great for winter
and an old pair of walking boots that don;t get used much any more

plus the old wellies that have almost no tread left from when they were used to walk the dog - she died in 1998 but they are great when you need wellies

plus some blown shoes that I don;t like and a smarter pair of brown shoes that are pretty much knackered

my wife has a cabinet in the hall full of shoes
she bought it so we wouldn;t have shoes all over the hall
but she got one that fits size 4-5 in it just fine - but my size 8 take a whole shelf for one pair as they have to go in sideways - so I have to keep mine upstairs
plus she has - but ignores - at least 2 full drawers of shoes in the room where my clothes are kept so she can claim to have forgotten about them
along with the 2 drawers of handbags and another 2 of scarves

My shoes will evolve down as some wear out over time

I'm in the uncountable hordes class, there's half a dozen pairs I wear regularly but 20+ that only come out once a year or so. Not worn my smart black Leather 'dress' shoes for years (no Weddings/Funerals to attend) but they're polished and ready to go should the need arise.
